ART & SOUL DANCE ACADEMY (ASDA) POLICIES (ALSO POSTED ONLINE AND IN THE STUDIO
MISSION STATEMENT):
First and foremost ASDA is to be a dancer's home away from home where they receive high quality training, constructive feedback, discipline, support and encouragement. They are to be compared only to themselves and their personal best; encouraged to set goals and guided to reach them. They are to learn responsibility, personal accountability and self-reflection. They will be challenged to work hard and participate at 100% effort in all classes, performances and studio organized events. Negative commentary toward dancers, peers or instructors is unacceptable. Respect for the Instructors, students, parents and all studio spaces and property are expected at all times. Instructors and Students shall uphold the values of Art & Soul Dance Academy and be a positive representative not only in the studio but around the community as well.
TUITION:
ASDA accepts cash, check or online payments; Credit card payments will incur a 3% convenience fee. Monthly tuition payments will be due on the first of each month. Late payment will result in a $20 late fee after the 15th. Student will not be admitted to class if tuition is not current.
If a student chooses to discontinue their schedule of classes, ASDA must be notified via email (directors2@artsouldanceacademy.com) 30 DAYS PRIOR to the first class of any month. I (the parents/guardians) am responsible for payment whether or not my student attends classes once notice is given. Any unused tuition amount is forfeited. In the case of long-term illness or serious injury a 30-day notice will not be required. A physicians’ note must be submitted to the studio for such consideration.
ASDA will not prorate monthly tuition. Students adding mid-month may either pay the trial rate of $20 per class or schedule a make-up class(es).
MAKE-UP CLASSES:
It is your responsibility to attend the class you are registered for. Please email the studio if your child is unable to attend his or her scheduled class.
Refunds are not given for missed classes, however as a courtesy, students may schedule a make-up class with an excused absence. Make up classes should not become excessive as this complicates the dynamic of both the regular class and the class a student is using for make-up so make-up classes may not become a regular occurrence.
WINTER PERFORMANCE/SPRING SHOWCASE:
All ASDA students are required to participate in the Winter Performance/Spring Showcase date to be announced (mid-December and mid-May) unless prior arrangements have been made. SHOWCASE PLANS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON VENUE, COMPLICATIONS ETC.
A costume/showcase fee per class (Winter Performance of $30, Spring Showcase of $90) is due no later October 16th, 2026 (Winter Performance) and February 16th, 2027, to offset the cost of costumes and show rentals, backdrops, props, logistics, tech that are necessary. Payments received after October 16th, 2026 (for Winter Performance) and February 16th, 2027 (for Spring Showcase) will be subject to a $10 late charge.
ADULT DANCERS wishing to participate in the Spring Recital will be charged a $30 non-refundable participation fee. Adult dancers will work with instructor to create a costume to be provided or purchased by performer.
Our minimal ticket fee is used to offset production fees.
The Winter Performance will be a more intimate performance, and the costumes will be simple and left with the studio. Students will be able to keep their costumes after the Spring Showcase. All tuition must be paid up to date (before each performance) or ASDA has the right to use recital fee as last month’s tuition and hold costume(s). Dress Rehearsals for Spring Showcase will take place the week prior to Showcase. All students will be required to stay for the entire duration of the recital. Parents may not pick up students after their child’s performance or during Intermission.
SCHEDULING & CANCELLATIONS:
Classes/Instructors are subject to change. Classes may be cancelled or combined at studios discretion. Should ASDA have to cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances ie: Rehearsals, weather, etc. you may arrange to make-up the class.
PLACEMENT:
Each student is evaluated and placed into a level at the discretion of the Director & Faculty. Teacher recommendations for class placement are based on the student’s attitude, attendance, understanding and application of technique and physical ability. Teachers may request new students take a placement class prior to placing for registration. Advancement is based on teacher recommendations only after the student masters his or her current level. We take great care in considering each and every student for placement at a level which is compatible with his or her current ability and encourages them in progress. Inappropriate placement at an advanced level may result in injury and hinders the progress of classmates. We appreciate your understanding of this policy which permits us to give your child the individual attention her or she deserves. Students who disagree with their level placement are asked to trust the judgment of the Academy Director and faculty. All students, regardless of level, are taught by highly experienced faculty, who strive to bring out the best in each of his or her students in each class.
HEALTH & WELLNESS:
All students who have any health problems or injuries are asked to notify the office and their instructors. ASDA promotes good nutrition for all our students, any student who needs help in this area may consult with their instructors and the Director.

I understand that dance training for students requires a sustained, repetitive, vigorous physical activity, usually performed on a hard or lightly padded surface without protective footwear. It is also understood that dance instruction involves kinetic corrections that may include physically touching the student as part of regular classwork and rehearsals. I understand that participants engage in a broad range of quick movements, bending, twisting, running, leaping and lifting, which place extreme demands on the human body, including stress of joints and ligaments, repetitive impact, and occasional falls, slips and collisions with other participants and objects.
I also understand that ASDA is not staffed to monitor and supervise the activities of its students at all times, and the tuition schedule does not contemplate constant supervision.
I also understand that there are inherent risks of serious personal injury involved in all of the above activities as well as in the general participation in Academy activities and events. I voluntarily assume and accept such risks of personal injury and illnesses arising from my/my child's attendance and participation in such activities and events. I hereby release Art & Soul Dance Academy, its trustees, employees, successors and agents from all actions, claims or demands that I, my child, our heirs or representatives now have or may hereafter have for personal injuries or property damage resulting from our attendance at and/or participation in ASDA activities and events. I agree that this release includes personal injury or property damage caused in whole or in part by negligence, active or passive, of ASDA, its trustees, employees and agents. This release does not apply to liability for willful injury or fraud. I hereby give permission for my student to participate in activities. All excursions are non-refundable. I understand that students participating in any excursions are ambassadors of ASDA. Any student who fails to abide by the rules set by the chaperones for excursions will forfeit participation on future excursions and may be dismissed from the session. In either event, no refund will be granted.
Participant does not have any medical conditions that would prevent participation in course Program.
Participant has adequate health insurance to cover the costs of treatment in the event of any injury.
Participant shall pay any attorney fees or costs incurred by ASDA in enforcing this Agreement.
If any portion of this Agreement is held to be invalid by a court of law, then it is agreed and intended that all the remainder shall, notwithstanding, continue in full force and effect.
I represent and warrant that if I am purchasing something or paying for a service from ASDA or from other merchants through ASDA that (i) any credit card or bank account draft (ACH Draft) information I supply is true and complete, (ii) charges incurred by me will be honored by my credit card company or financial institution, and (iii) I will pay the charges incurred by me at the posted prices, including any applicable taxes, fees, and penalties.
Should I dispute a charge through my financial institution this will constitute a breach of contract possibly resulting in, but not limited to, penalties, additional fees, collection, legal action, and/or termination of any and/or all current and future services.
Please keep in mind policies are subject to change.
